OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The start of the millennium was the begin of the computerization of everyday life. With household or handheld computers came the social media. But as much fun as they are, social media have proven to be more of a Trojan herd than just a single horse. On Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and nowadays even Tik Tok very useful information is sometimes made accessibly, also globally. But these postmodern media can also serve the goal of propagating disinformation, either by totalitarian rulers targeting their own citizens, aiming at the citizens of another state or simply by one political party vying for power in an electoral campaign. Born in W-Germany in 1965; both my parents were journalists and both are deceased. My father’s postings took us to and from the CSSR (65-67) to Frankfurt a.M. (67-69), Den Haag (69-71), Belgrade (71-76), Paris (76-80), Johannesburg (the one in Africa 80-85). Army in W-Germany (85-87), work as “exclusive” tourist guide 88-89. Born and raised in Dnipro, I was privileged in that my parents were able to offer me the entry to the world of ballet at the age of six and followed Classical Ballet studies at the State and Academy Theatre for Opera and Ballet of my birth-city. After a couple of years as First Soloist on the stage of the Dnipro Opera, I was invited to study Classical Ballet at the Music and Arts University in Vienna (Vienna Conservatorium), which I finished in 2001. more…
For me being Ukrainian means being unique and powerful. While studying international economics in Kyiv, I had a chance to travel (12% of the world according to Facebook) and learn English, German, French and Chinese, which laid the ground for my broad horizons and open personality. I have experienced cultural differences, stereotypes and rising questions about the world’s problems and people’s happiness. more…
I was born in the medium-sized Western Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk (former Austrian city of Stanislau) on May 1st, 1995. Since a young age I was fascinated by the authentic music of my region, especially the Hutsul music of the Carpathian mountains. At age 8 my family emigrated to the United States. In Buffalo, NY we took an active role in our Ukrainian diaspora where I continued my musical education; first on the violin and later the Bandura. more…
